Pre-Launch Checklist: Rulesets, Name Reservation, and Setup
Preparing for the launch of World of Warcraft: Forever involves deciding on a naming identity, selecting your ruleset, and planning your early character progression.
Name Reservation and Two-Part Names
Early Name Reservation will be available from October 27 through November 3, 2026, for eligible upgrade purchases. Instead of relying on a single name tied to a specific realm, each character will have two names. Because names are unique across the entire region, pairing a favorite first name with a distinct surname provides greater flexibility in securing your desired identity.
Ruleset Selection
Rather than asking players to pick the “right” realm before creating a character, World of Warcraft: Forever lets you choose the kind of experience you want to have first:
- Normal Ruleset: Focuses on leveling and dungeon content, with player versus player combat available at your discretion.
- PvP Ruleset: Involves contested zone warfare where players are continuously subject to enemy faction attacks. On the PvP ruleset, players can only create characters for one faction.
