Two-Part Character Names: First Names and Surnames
In World of Warcraft: Forever, character names utilize a two-name structure consisting of a first name and a surname. This design expands naming flexibility across the realmless architecture.
Rather than requiring each individual first name to be globally unique on its own, uniqueness is evaluated on the full two-name combination. Two characters can share the same first name as long as their complete names are distinct within the region.
If players prefer a traditional visual appearance in the game world, secondary name display on nameplates can be toggled off by opening the Game Menu (Escape), selecting Options, navigating to Nameplates, and unchecking My Secondary Name. Secondary names still display in chat channels.
Early Name Reservation is available from October 27 through November 3, 2026, for eligible upgrade purchases, with names reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
